Η εκπομπή ‘Music to Feed Your Soul’ by JJ Pallis,
θέλοντας να γιορτάσει την επανεκκίνηση του webradio του Freequency Project, μετά και την πολύτιμη συνεισφορά σας στο πάρτυ μας, ετοίμασε μία τριμερής συλλογή με νέα συγκροτήματα και καινούργια τραγούδια. Κάποια από αυτά έχουν ακουστεί στις τελευταίες εκπομπές του 2013, άλλα είναι πολύ φρέσκα. Αυτή η συλλογή δεν είναι άλλη μία λίστα από τα καλύτερα, είναι κάποιες προτάσεις της εκπομπής στο ύφος που την γνωρίσαμε. Νέες κυκλοφορίες και νέοι καλλιτέχνες, συγκροτήματα που οι περισσότεροι δύσκολα θα διαβάσετε για αυτά, πόσο μάλλον να τα ακούσετε. Σε επικοινωνία μας με τα συγκροτήματα μάθαμε πολλά ενδιαφέροντα στοιχεία για αυτά και για το μέλλον τους. Αυτός είναι και ένας από τους λόγους που αυτό το κείμενο είναι δίγλωσσο. Η συλλογή έχει τον αλλαγμένο τίτλο ‘Music to Fish Your Soul’, λόγω προσωπικών αλλαγών στην καθημερινότητα του παραγωγού. Ας γνωρίσουμε λοιπόν τα συγκροτήματα του πρώτου μέρους της συλλογής.Το πρώτο που πρέπει να κάνετε πριν συνεχίσετε την ανάγνωση αυτόυ του άρθρου, είναι να πάτε στο τέλος του κειμένου και να πατήσετε play στο link του mixcloud.

‘Music to Feed Your Soul’ radio show by JJ Pallis has prepared a 3 part mixtape with new bands and new songs,celebrating the re-opening of Freequency Project’s web radio. Some of the songs have already been played at the show in the end of 2013, others are fresh. This mixtape is formed just like the show. It suggests new releases and artists which you hardly have ever heard or read about. That’s one of the reasons that this article is written both in Greek and English. The title of the compilation altered to ‘Music to Fish Your Soul’ just for personal reasons. Let’s get to know the bands of the first part of the compilation. The first thing that you have to do before continue reading, is to go at the end of the article and press play at the mixcloud’s link.

1. Death and Vanilla – Dream Sequence
Το κομμάτι που ξεκινάει η συλλογή είναι από τους Σουηδούς Death and Vanilla, και είναι μέρος μίας συναυλίας τους, συνοδεύοντας το κλασσικό κινηματογραφικό έργο του Carl Theodor Dreyers ‘Vampyr‘ (1932) σε ένα φεστιβάλ Φανταστικού μέσα στο 2013. Έχει εκδοθεί από την εταιρία Moon Glyph σε κασέττα! (http://moonglyph.com/)

The opening song of the compilation is from the Swedish band Death and Vanilla and is part of a semi-improvised performance, that was recorded live during the screening of Carl Theodor Dreyers’ ‘Vampyr‘ (1932) at the Fantastisk Filmfestival last year. 2. Familiar Trees – Icicle
Οι Familiar Trees είναι από τo Los Angeles και πρόκειται για το side project του συγκροτήματος Icons of Andria που επίσης ακούστηκαν στην εκπομπή (www.soundcloud.com/IconsOfAndria). Ήθελα να γράψω ότι είναι ένα dream pop ντουέτο, αλλά οι ίδιοι μας εξηγούν ότι η μουσική τους δεν μπορεί να χωρέσει σε ένα μουσικό είδος: ‘…doesn’t fit neatly or narrowly into a specific musical genre. It can best be described as Aural Art’. Έχουν εκδώσει ένα EP το 2005 και παρόλο που ολοκλήρωσαν τον πρώτο τους δίσκο το 2009, δεν έχει εκδοθεί μέχρι σήμερα. Οι ίδιοι το περιγράφουν ως ‘a development exercise‘ . Αρκετά τραγούδια τους μπορείτε να τα κατεβάσετε δωρεάν στο soundcloud του συγκροτήματος.

I would described them as a dream pop duo but the band explained that ‘their music doesn’t fit neatly or narrowly into a specific musical genre. It can best be described as Aural Art.’
They have released an EP in 2005 and despite finishing their first full-length record, never got released. The band describes it as ‘a development exercise‘. Most of the songs can be downloaded for free at their soundcloud page.

O καλύτερος τρόπος για να ακούτε καινούργια τραγούδια των αγαπημένων σας καλλιτεχνών πριν εκδοθούν, είναι να παρακολουθείτε το soundcloud των ίδιων ή των εταιριών τους. Εάν σας αρέσει να ψάχνετε για καινούργια τραγούδια, συγκροτήματα και μουσική τo πιο αποτελεσματικό, τουλάχιστον από την εμπειρία του γράφοντα, είναι να παρακολουθείτε διάφορα youtube stations, το bandcamp και φυσικά το soundcloud όπως είπαμε παραπάνω. Υπάρχουν ακόμη πολλά indie sites και web zines, πάντα με αρκετές ενδιαφέρουσες προτάσεις.
The best way to check your favourite bands’ new stuff, is to monitor their or their label soundcloud page. If you’re into searching new music and new bands, the most effective, from my experience, is to monitor youtube stations, bandcamp music updates and of course soundcloud.
There are also many indie sites and web zines with plenty of new and interesting things.

3. Boyhood – Where Αre Μy Βeautiful Roses?
Με τους/την Boyhood έχουμε ασχοληθεί αρκετά στο παρελθόν, και ειδικά με το τραγούδι ‘Where I’m Going‘, το οποίο είναι προσωπικό αγαπημένο και ακούγεται συχνά σε DJ Set. (http://boyhoodsongs.bandcamp.com/track/where-im-going)
Αυτή τη φορά επιλέχθηκε ένα τραγούδι από τον πρώτο δίσκο της ‘When I’m Hungry‘ που βγήκε τέλη του 2012. Ένας δίσκος που ακούγεται ολόκληρος με τη μία, με φρέσκο ήχο και φρέσκιες ιδέες. Οι Boyhood είναι από το Οντάριο του Καναδά. Η Caylie, η οποία είναι υπεύθυνη για τη σύνθεση, τους στίχους και την παραγωγή τους, μας είπε πόσο χαρούμενη είναι που υπάρχουν κάποιοι στην Ελλάδα που ακούνε τη μουσική τους. Κάτι που μας έκανε και εμάς πολύ χαρούμενους.
Οι Boyhood είναι η Caylie, ενώ live παίζουν μαζί της ακόμη δύο μουσικοί στο μπάσο και τα τύμπανα.

We now chose a song from her first and latest album ‘When I’m Hungry‘ which got released in the end of 2012. A record that you can hear it all at once, with fresh sound and ideas. Boyhood is from Ontario, Canada. Caylie is responsible for writing, recording and the production of music. She told us that she is so happy that we are into her songs. That made us also happy.

Θα ήθελα να εκφράσω σε αυτό το σημείο ένα παράπονο/ανάγκη που έχω διακρίνει, από την επικοινωνία μου με αρκετά συγκροτήματα. Βασικά όταν επικοινωνείς μαζί τους θέλοντας να τους πεις ότι σου αρέσουν, η απάντηση τους είναι πάντα με πολύ χαρά και ενθουσιασμό. Αποκαλύπτοντας μία ανάγκη του καλλιτέχνη για υποστήριξη και κάποιες καλές κουβέντες. Εδώ λοιπόν σας προτείνω όταν σας αρέσει κάποιος καλλιτέχνης, είτε είναι μουσικός, είτε είναι ζωγράφος ή κινηματογραφιστής ή οτιδήποτε έχει να κάνει με την τέχνη και ζει από αυτό, ή τουλάχιστον προσπαθεί να ζήσει, να τον υποστηρίζετε, να του κάνετε Like στη σελίδα του, να του στείλετε ένα μήνυμα υποστήριξης, να πάτε στη συναυλία/έκθεση/παρουσίασή του, να του δείξετε να καταλάβει ότι αξίζει αυτό που κάνει. Να ξέρετε ότι αυτό είναι πολύ σημαντικό και συνήθως μια σπρωξιά προς κάτι ακόμη καλύτερο.
I’ld like to mention here, something that i’ve detected from the discussion with the most of the bands. When you express your graditude and your appreciation for their music, they always respond with happy and enthusiastic comments. So they reveal a need for support. That’s the reason I suggest that when you’re into an artist, a musician or a painter or a film maker or whatever has to do with art, and he lives from that, or trying to live, you should try to support him, like his page, send him a message, write a nice comment, go to his gig/performance/show, and show him that he is a good artist and deserves recognition.
Be sure that this is very important and most of the time works positively towards something great.

4. Candy Claws – White Seal (Shell & Spine)
Άλλο ένα διαμάντι από τυχαία αναζήτηση νέας μουσικής στο bandcamp. Οι Candy Claws, από το Fort Collins του Κολοράντο, έβγαλαν τον τρίτο δίσκο τους το καλοκαίρι του 2013 με τίτλο ‘Ceres&Calypso‘, αν και ουσιαστικά αυτός είναι ο πρώτος τους, καθώς οι προηγούμενοι δύο περιέχουν διασκευές καθώς και χριστουγεννιάτικα τραγουδια. ‘Ενας πολύ ωραίος και στρωτός δίσκος, με dream pop και shoegaze στοιχεία αλλά μία ατμόσφαιρα πολύ μυστηριώδη. Ο δίσκος τους κυκλοφορεί σε βινύλιο από την twosyllable records (http://twosyllablerecords.com/). Το τραγούδι που επιλέχθηκε, ακούστηκε στην εκπομπή μαζί με ακόμη ένα από τον δίσκο, με τίτλο ‘New Forest‘ .

Another music gem found, searching for new music at bandcamp. Candy Claws are from Fort Collins, Colorado and they released their third album ‘Ceres & Calypso‘ in the summer of 2013.
We can say that this is their first full album, cause the others include covers and christmas songs.
‘Ceres & Calypso‘ is a great album. Dream pop and shoegaze, with a nice amount of noise to have a mysterious aura. Twosyllable Records released their album, in vinyl (http://twosyllablerecords.com/)

5. Lumerians – The Bloom
Οι Lumerians είναι από το San Fransisco. Το κομμάτι ‘The Bloom‘, που έχουμε ακούσει και στην εκπομπή, κυκλοφόρησε αρχικά στο EP ‘Horizon Structures‘ το Δεκέμβρη του 2012 από την Partisan Records αλλά περιέχεται και στον δεύτερο δίσκο του συγκροτήματος ‘The High Frontier‘, ο οποίος κυκλοφόρησε τον Σεπτέμβριο του ’13 (http://www.partisanrecords.com/).
Ένα ιδιαίτερο κομμάτι, με κινηματογραφικό ήχο και πολύ συναίσθημα μέχρι το τέλος του.

6. The Feather – What If
Οι Feather είναι το side project του Βέλγου Thomas Medard, τραγουδιστή-κιθαρίστα των Dan San. Ο δίσκος τους κυκλοφόρησε τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2013 με τίτλο ‘Invisible‘ και το ‘What If‘ είναι ένα απο τα αρκετά πολύ καλά που περιέχει. Ένα δυναμικό προσωπικό ξεκίνημα από έναν πολυπράγμων καλλιτέχνη, ο οποίος συνέθεσε, έπαιξε όλα τα μουσικά όργανα, έκανε τη μίξη και την παραγωγή του δίσκου. Έχει ταλέντο και αρκετό ακόμη μέλλον.

Μαγευτικό.
The Feather is the side project of Thomas Medard from Belgium, singer/guitarist of Dan San. The record ‘Invisible‘ was released in September of 2013 and ‘What If’ is one from the many good songs in it.
A powerful take off, from a very active musician. He plays all the instruments (guitars of all kinds, piano, synths, bass, clarinet, glock, percussion,…) and has entirely produced, recorded and mixed it by transforming the attic of his house into a home studio. He has talent and looking to the future.

7. The Tiny Lies – Bag Of Bones
Τους Νεο Ζηλανδούς Tiny Lies, και συγκεκριμένα το ‘Bag Of Bones‘, μας τους σύστησε ο ειδικός της μουσικής της Ωκεανικής Ηπείρου, Mr.Κανάγιας (Canaille), και τον ευχαριστούμε πολύ γι’αυτό. Έκαναν το ντεμπούτο τους το 2011, με το EP ‘Trials‘, και πριν μερικούς μήνες κυκλοφόρησαν τον πρώτο τους δίσκο, με τίτλο ‘The Oaks They Will Bow‘.
Ένας alternative folk δίσκος, με ιστορίες σκοτεινές και βαθύ συναίσθημα, όπως μπορείτε να ακούσετε και στο ‘Bag Of Bones‘.

We heard the Tiny Lies and in particular ‘Bag Of Bones‘ by Oceanic music expert in Greece, mr.Canaille, and we thank him a lot for this one.

8. Boogarins – Erre
Γνωρίσαμε τους Boogarins από το καταπληκτικό τραγούδι τους ‘Lucifernandis‘, και τους αγαπησαμε αστραπιαία.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5f-Mb9dP7U)
Τα πιτσιρίκια από την Goiania της Βραζιλίας έχουν πολύ ταλέντο και απ’ότι φαίνεται θα μας απασχολήσουν αρκετά και στο μέλλον. Το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ τους με τίτλο ‘As Plantas Que Curam‘ κυκλοφόρησε τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2013, και ναι όλα τα τραγούδια είναι στα βραζιλιάνικα. Ακούγοντας τα όμως δεν σε επηρεάζει καθόλου, αν κ θα θέλαμε να μάθουμε τι μας λένε. Το κομμάτι που επιλέχθηκε είναι ίσως το πιο pop rock του δίσκου, που έχει πολύ ψυχεδέλεια μέσα, και για εμένα κατατάσσει τους Boogarins σε ένα από τα πιο hot νέα ονόματα στην παγκόσμια σκηνή.
Οι ίδιοι με τη σειρά τους μας ευχαρίστησαν για το ενδιαφέρον μας και μας προσκάλεσαν στην μίνι περιοδεία που θα κάνουν τον Απρίλιο στην Ευρώπη. Παίζουν μάλιστα και στο Primavera Sound στη Βαρκελώνη, για όσους δεν γνωρίζουν ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα φεστιβάλ indie μουσικής.
Πόσο ωραίο θα’ταν να τους βλέπαμε και στην Ελλάδα…
Κλείνω το μάτι στις μικρές μας ανεξάρτητες εταιρίες παραγωγής, Arte Fiascο; CTS; ή ακόμη και το FractalPress που συζητούσαμε τις προάλλες για τα ανερχόμενα συγκροτήματα.

We met Boogarins from the amazing ‘Lucifernandis‘ and we loved them at once. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5f-Mb9dP7U)
The kids from Goiania of Brazil have a lot of talent and as we can see we’ll talk a lot about them in the future. They released their debut album ‘As Plantas Que Curam‘ in September of ’13, and all the songs are written in brazilian. Hearing it doesn’t bother you at all, we would like to know what their tellling us thow. ‘Erre‘ is the most pop rock song of the album which has a more psychedelic sound and for me puts the Boogarins in the top of the newcomers and hot bands list of new music scene.
In our communication they are very happy for our interest and they invited us at their mini tour in Europe in April.They will also play at Primavera Sound at Barcelona, which is one for the biggest festival in the world in indie music, for those that don’t know it.
How cool would be to visit Greece also…

9. Egg Hell – Ginger Head
Και φτάσαμε στο πρώτο, από τα εφτά, ελληνικό συγκρότημα, τους Egg Hell. Και εντελώς τυχαίο είναι το γεγονός ότι ο τραγουδιστής τους Jef Maarawi έχει καταγωγή από τη Βραζιλία. Δεν ξέρω γιατί, αλλά μου ταίριαζε αυτό το τραγούδι σε αυτή τη θέση. Οι Egg Hell ξεκίνησαν ως σολο προτζεκτ του Maarawi αλλά εξελίχθηκαν σε πενταμελές συγκρότημα. Έβγαλαν το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ τους ‘Once Part of a Whole Ship‘ στα τέλη του 2013, στην Inner Ear Records (http://www.inner-ear.gr). Επιλέχθηκε το ‘Ginger Head‘ γιατί όπως ξέρουν οι φίλοι μου αρέσουν πολύ οι κοκκινομάλλες, και γιατί είναι ένα τραγούδι που περιέχει όλες τις πτυχές του δίσκου, από το folk-songwriting στο indie rock. Να πούμε εδώ ότι όπου τους πετύχετε live αξίζει να τους δείτε, για τον δυναμισμό και την ενέργεια που βγάζουν πάνω στην σκηνή.

This is the first, of seven, greek band, Egg Hell. And it’s only accidental that their singer Jef Maarawi has brazilian origin. I don’t know why, but this song fit at this position.
The band began as a solo project of Maarawi expanded into a five-piece band. The end of 2013 found them with a debut album, called ‘Once Part of a Whole Ship‘, released by Inner Ear Records. (http://www.inner-ear.gr). ‘Ginger Head‘ was chosen because I like redheads at first, and second it’s a song that contains all the music features of Egg Hell, from folk-songwriting to indie rock.
Their live performances are always powerful and energetic. Catch them when you can.

10. Juana Molina – Eras
Η Juana Molina είναι ίσως η πιο γνωστή από τους καλλιτέχνες που συμμετέχουν σε αυτό το mixtape. Τουλάχιστον στους αριθμούς. Τραγούδια της έχετε ακούσει όσοι παρακολουθείτε ξένες σειρές (Six Feet Under, The O.C) καθώς και σε ταινίες όπως η Hallam Foe. Ενώ έχει συμμετάσχει ως ηθοποιός σε πάνω απο 10 αργεντίνικες τηλεοπτικές σειρές. Το τραγούδι ‘Eras‘ είναι από τον τελευταίο και έκτο κατα σειρά δίσκο της ‘Wed 21‘ που βγήκε μέσα στο 2013 στην Crammed Discs (http://www.crammed.be/), εταιρία που θα κυκλοφορήσει και τον αναμενόμενο δίσκο των Tuxedomoon από μία performance τους το 2011. Να πουμε εδω, ότι ο πέμπτος δίσκος της Molina ‘Una Dia‘, το 2008 είχε κυκλοφορήσει από την Domino Records, οπότε καταλαβαίνετε ότι δεν είναι μία τυχαία καλλιτέχνης. Είναι μία καλλιτέχνης που αξίζει να παρακολουθήσετε, και εαν σας αρέσει τσεκάρετε και live βίντεο, με τις φωνητικές λούπες και τις σκοτεινές κιθαριστικές μελωδίες.
Juana Molina is probably the most famous from the artists of this mixtape. At least in numbers. Those of you that watch tv-series, have heard one or two songs of her (Six Feet Under, The O.C) as well as in movies (Hallam Foe). She is also an actress and has participated in more then 10 argentinian tv series. ‘Eras‘ is a song from her latest (6th) album which called ‘Wed 21‘ in the middle of 2013 and released by Crammed Discs (http://www.crammed.be/), which will release in April the new album of Tuxedomoon based in a performance they did in 2011. Let’s mention here that Molina’s fifth album ‘Una Dia‘, in 2008 , was released by Domino Records. So you can see that she isn’t somebody not worthy of attention. She is worth your time and ears, and if you like her, check her videos too, with her looped voices and her dark guitar melodies.

11. Mozermilk – Happy Prince
Όσοι ασχολείστε με το soundcloud θα’χετε παρατηρήσει πολλές φορές να σας “ακολουθούν” αγνωστα συγκροτήματα και καλλιτέχνες που σας βρήκαν σε κάποια “ομάδα” του soundcloud ή “ακολουθείτε” τους ίδιους καλλιτέχνες. Και τις περισσότερες φορές όλους αυτούς τους αγνοείτε.Ε, λοιπόν υπάρχουν κάποιοι που πριν τους απορρίψουν, ακούνε καναδυό τραγούδια τους. Και έτσι έγινε με τους Mozermilk. Δεν περίμενα να ακούσω αυτό το τραγούδι τόσο τυχαία.
Είναι ένα κομμάτι που συνδιάζει το post-punk με το experimental. Έχει τόσο φρέσκο ήχο αλλά τόσο οικείο. Οι Γάλλοι Mozermilk, από την Toulouse, μας εξέπληξαν δίνοντάς μας ένα από τα καλύτερα τραγούδια του 2013. Το οποίο τιμήσαμε την εκπομπή αρκετές φορές. Όπως μας είπαν ετοιμάζουν την κυκλοφορία του δεύτερού τους δίσκου, μετά από 4 χρόνια, και λογικά θα βγει τον ερχόμενο Απρίλιο με τον τίτλο ‘Miss Shangai Lily‘. Μέχρι στιγμής έχουν ανεβάσει 3-4 τραγούδια απο τον δίσκο, οπότε μπορείτε να πάρετε μια πρώτη γεύση.

If you’re into soundcloud, you probably have noticed some unknown musicians and bands following you, who may found you at a group in soundcloud or you follow same artists, and most of the time you ignore them. Well, some of us, before get them dropped, we listen one or two of their songs. And that’s the case with Mozermilk. I’ve never would imagine that this song will pop up so random, cause it’s very good not to be known. It’s an experimental, post-punk style song with fresh sound thow. The french, from Toulouse, gave us one of the best songs of 2013 and we play it a lot at our show. They told us that they’re ready to release their second album ‘Miss Shangai Lily‘, after 4 years, around April. You can listen 3-4 songs from the record online to get a first hear.

12. blablarism – Saule Discours
Η Oksana Zmorovytch, κατά κόσμον Blablarism, ήταν η τελευταία καλλιτ;eχνης που προστέθηκε στη συλλογή ‘Music to Feed Your Soul’, εγκαινιάζοντας και την dark wave σκηνή που ακούσαμε από την εκπομπή. Είναι από την Ουκρανία και έχει υπογράψει στην ελληνική αλλά ανερχόμενη παγκοσμίως Fabrika Records (http://www.fabrikarecords.com/), και έβγαλε τον πρώτο της δίσκο με τίτλο ‘Agnostodynis‘, το 2013. Μέσα από αυτό είναι και το κομμάτι που επιλέχθηκε. Δε χρειάζεται να πούμε και πολλά. Μαύρη μαυρίλα. Όπως μας περιγράφει και η ίδια τη μουσική της: ‘sadness‘!

13. Woodpecker Wooliams – Sparrow
Δυστυχώς η Woodpecker Wooliams έχει σταματήσει να υφίσταται σαν περσόνα εδώ και 6 μήνες περίπου. Έτσι μας ανακοίνωσε η Gemma Williams, η οποία είναι το κεντρικό πρόσωπο του συγκροτήματος, από το site της, με μια φωτογραφια ενλος βιβλίου με τη λέξη death και το σχόλιο: ‘I’m sad to say, but Woodpecker is dead… ‘. Το ‘Sparrow‘ είναι ένα καταπληκτικό τραγούδι, γεμάτο πάθος, ένταση, πόνο και μουσική ευφυία. Περιέχεται στον δεύτερο δίσκο της Wooliams, που βγήκε στα τέλη του 2012 με τίτλο ‘The Bird School of Being Human‘.
Unfortunately Woodpecker Wooliams is “dead” 6 months now. Gemma Williams who is the musical moniker of the group announced the “death” of the project on her website:
‘I’m sad to say, but Woodpecker is dead…‘ . ‘Sparrow‘ is a great song, full of passion, tension, pain and musical genius. The song features in the second record of Wooliams, ‘The Bird School of Being Human‘, which was released at the end of 2012.

14. Ash Code – Dry Your Eyes
Οι Ash Code είναι άλλη μία περίπτωση σαν αυτή των Mozermilk. Αυτή τη φορά από την Ιταλία. Αυτή είναι η πρώτη τους κυκλοφορία ως single, μαζί με ακόμη ένα τραγούδι, και βγήκε ως digital album τον Ιανουάριο.Το τραγούδι έχει γίνει ήδη γνωστό σε αυτούς που ασχολούνται με τον συγκεκριμένο ήχο. Είναι ένα κλασσικό electro-dark wave κομμάτι. Με μελωδίες λιτές και οικείες. Δεν ξέρω γιατί, εμένα μου θυμίζει τους δικούς μας Metro Decay, ασχέτως του διαφορετικού ήχου και της παραγωγής. Και αυτό είναι καλό!

Ash Code is a similar case as Mozermilk. From Italy this time. This is their first release, as a single with one more song, and it’s a digital album, released in January. The song is already known to the “experts” of this sound. Classic electro-dark wave. Simple but familiar melodies. I don’t know why, but it reminds me of the greek 80’s band Metro Decay, instead of the differences in sound and production. And that is good!

15. People of Nothing – A Break to Cry
Ακόμη ένα νέο γαλλικό συγκρότημα, αυτή τη φορά από το Παρίσι. Συνεχίζουμε να κινούμαστε στον dark ήχο, περισσοτερο στο noise rock βασικά. Οι People of Nothing είναι το project του Florian Chombart. Ακόμη ένας πολυοργανίστας με περίσσιο ταλέντο. Όπως μας περιγράφει και ο ίδιος: ‘the group’s sound oscillates between soaring, cinematic synths, industrial beats and shoe-gaze guitar‘. Το πρώτο τους mini album με τον ίδιο τίτλο ‘A Break of Cry’, βγήκε από την εταιρία Any Wave records (http://anywaverecords.com/), αδερφή εταιρία με την Fabrika Records.

16. Sad Disco – Heart
Φτάνοντας προς το τέλος του πρώτου μέρους, έχουμε το δεύτερο ελληνικό συγκρότημα, τους Sad Disco, με ένα καθαρά synth pop hit-άκι. Θα’θελα να πω εδώ, για τους κακεντρεχείς, λόγω του διαφορετικού στυλ του τραγουδιού με τα υπόλοιπα, (που για εμένα δεν έχει καμμία σημασία, καθώς αυτό είναι η εκπομπή ‘Music to Feed Your Soul’, νέες κυκλοφορίες και νέοι καλλιτέχνες δηλαδή), ότι η συμμετοχή του δεν έχει σχέση με την πολύ καλή μου φιλία με το ένα από τα μέλη του συγκροτήματος, τον Kopoul, καθώς το τραγούδι είναι εκπληκτικά ανεβαστικό και για εμένα θα’πρεπε είναι το Indie pop track του καλοκαιριού. Sad disco is the second greek band of the compilation, with a synth-pop hit, ‘Heart‘. I’ld like to say at this point, for the malicious ones, also because of the different style of this song from the others (which for me is irrelevant to say, cause that’s what ‘Music to Feed Your Soul’ radio show is, new bands and new music), that it’s included despite my good friendship with one of their members, Kopoul, because is an up tempo track which in my opinion is the indie pop track of the upcoming summer. 17. Pinkunoizu – Moped
Το τελευταίο τραγούδι του πρώτου μέρους είναι ένας δυναμίτης από τους Δανούς Pinkunoizu. Μέσα από ένα άλμπουμ δυναμίτη, το ‘The Drop‘, που βγήκε στα μέσα του 2013 στην Full Time Hobby (http://www.fulltimehobby.co.uk/home/), η οποία έχει ακόμη στις κυκλοφορίες τhς τον Timber Timbre, τους Fujiya&Miyagi, τους School of Seven Bells… Συμμετέχουν επίσης στην συλλογή της Fuzz Club Records ‘The Reverb Conspiracy vol.2‘, μία συλλογή με καινούργια psych-rock συγκροτήματα απ’όλη την Ευρώπη. (απο Ελλάδα οι Acid Baby Jesus)
Οι Pinkunoizu λοιπόν, είναι ένα συγκρότημα που παίζει από νεοψυχεδέλεια μέχρι πειραματική dream pop. Οι ίδιοι περιγράφουν τη μουσική τους ως ‘Cocktail music‘. Στην εκπομπή ακούσαμε αρκετά τραγούδια τους, όπως και το ‘Moped‘. Περιμένουμε υπομονετικά πότε θα τους δούμε live. Μέχρι τότε απολαύστε τους ψηφιακά.

They also participate in Fuzz Club Records compilation ‘The Reverb Conspiracy vol.2‘, along with other new psych rock european bands. (Acid Baby Jesus from Greece)
So PInkunoizu is a band that play from psych rock to experimental dream pop. They describe their music as ‘Cocktail music’. We listened a few songs of them at the radio show, ‘Moped‘ included and we are waiting to see them live some day. Until then we enjoy listening.
